Modelling in Material Science Session

21.06.10- 21 June 2010 - This session is part of the Annual Meeting of the Swiss Physics Society (SPS) that will be held on 21-22 June 2010 in Basel and is supported by CCMX.

This session aims to bring together scientists working on computational modelling and addressing material science issues such as:

  • Electronic structure/properties of materials determined by ab- initio and/or semiempirical methods.
  • Atomic-level properties of materials including structural, mechanical, thermodynamic and kinetic properties.
  • Microstructural-level phenomena, including grain growth, sintering, solidification, dislocation networks, coarsening and texture.
  • Continuum-level modeling of material behavior or processing.

The session welcomes contributions treating simulations related to the interpretation of experimental observations and providing synergies between theory and experiment or contributions on the development of new simulation methods.
