Intellectual property policy

Focus on Pre-Competitive Research
The Intellectual Property policy of CCMX is based on the philosophy that we do collaborative pre-competitive research between multiple industries and multiple institutions within a thematic area. This research is conducted for the collective benefit of all the members of the thematic area.

The rules regarding the IP policy are as follows:

  • Companies collectively participate in research and collectively have access to the results within the thematic area;
  • The research institutions initially own the IP;
  • If companies are interested in pursuing the IP further (e.g. patent application) they must first advise all members of the thematic area of this interest, and then exercise an option with the research institution that owns the IP;
  • Companies may negotiate with the research institutions the rights to an exclusive license, non-exclusive license, transfer of full IP rights or some other mutually agreed upon solution;
  • Companies and CCMX research institutions shall negotiate in good faith a license or transfer agreement under fair and reasonable terms and conditions.
