Plastics Update Conference

9 November, 2017, Fribourg

This conference is the first joint event between the Swiss Plastics Cluster and the Plastics Innovation Competence Center. The two partners combined their efforts to prepare a conference program containing the latest innovation in the plastics field whilst keeping in mind their industrial applications.

The 2017 edition will have 4 sessions: Numerical modelling in plastics; Circular economy in plastics; Compounding; “Meet the experts”. The final session will allow deeper discussions on the topics from the three first sessions between the participants and the speakers in round-table discussions . It is a great opportunity to get the answers to all your questions.

12th Microscopy Winter School

21 - 26 January, 2018, ETH Zurich

This advanced microscopy course is intended for PhD students and post-graduates with prior experience in microscopy. The goal of the course is to teach and train fundamental knowledge and skills in a specific microscopic technique and students will be able to apply it to their own projects.

Practical work consists of six different modules covering a specific topic each. Each practical module lasts throughout the whole course. Students will participate in one module only and use state-of-the-art instrumentation. Theoretical joined sessions will in turn cover basic knowledge about all the different techniques for all students.

The Winter School is valued with 2-3 ECTS credits (depending on the institution).

The application deadline is Friday, 17 November 2017.

SusCritMat Winter School on Critical Raw Materials

15 - 19 January, 2018, Les Diablerets

This winter school will offer modules on complex and interdisciplinary topics related to critical raw materials, developed and taught by European experts in the field. The winter school will help participants to understand the role of critical raw materials in the whole value chain across various academic fields, by highlighting the bigger picture and the interconnected nature of global business and society, which is is increasingly necessary for decision-making in industry.

Biofaces International 2018

14 - 16 August 2018, ETH Zurich

Biological surfaces and interfaces: where synthetic materials and biological systems interact with each other - one of the most innovative and expanding areas of science and Technology.

Biointerfaces International 2018 will follow a special format: it aims to build bridges across relevant application areas, between science & engineering, among scientific discovery, Innovation & technology, and between senior scientists & early-career researchers. Both internationally highly renowned and young scientists from academia, industry and clinics present their latest, often unpublished scientific findings and technological breakthroughs. All speakers begin their talks with a General introduction that does not require specialized knowledge to follow. The focus of this conference is education across the many fields relevant to biological surfaces and interfaces.
